Audrey Hepburn, a bambi eyed, brunette is surely one of the most recognizable actress of all time. Her charm, elegants and talents in acting where the very essense of many iconic movies during the Hollywood Golden age. Breakfast at Tiffany's, My Fair Lady, Sadrina and of course Roman Holliday, to name a few, were some of the top movies of their time and from which Audrey won numerous awards such as the Academy Awards.
Along with being an actress, Audrey's influence in fashion was also and still is notable, to the extent of Audrey being called a fashion icon. So, no fashion book, movie or blog isn't complete without mentioning Audrey Hepburn and that's why my hollywood style series' second part is all about this fabulous and breathtaking woman.
Audrey's style is simple, classic and elegant while still appearing young, fresh and most of all fun. She favored clean, stable colours such as black, white, blue and red, and usually wore simply cutted dresses, cigarette trousers, highneck jumpers, beautiful coats and black sunglasses. Although Audrey was devoted to her naturally stunnig looks she still experimented with makeup, hair and fashion. For example, different hats with feathers and gorgeos jewerly pieces can be spotted in photograps, fims and magazine covers praysing her ageless style. But none of those highfashion moments wouldn't have been possible for Audrey without a life long friend, a French designer, Hubert de Givenchy who was known for his unique, innovative style. Givenchy designed Audrey's costumes for Sabrina, the black dress for Breakfast at Tiffany's and most of Audrey's personal wardrobe.
My take on an Audrey Hepburn style is on the more glamorous side of the spectrum, simply because I love the luster, the glitz and the fuss of dressing up. Yet I still tried to keep things simple and elegant like Audrey and Givenchy did. So I wore a black dress that has bell sleeves with a light pink piping; a light, minty green hat with faethers, a black, patent bag and a sparkly, diamond earings.
To recreate this Audrey look you actually just need a nice, simple black dress, a light felt hat and a simple handbag in a classic color such as black, white or brown. You can also wear a darker colored hat or something a bit more larger with a brim. Diamond earings you can replace with pearls or with big, gold clip earings if you don't have a sparkly pare.
Top tip is just to keep it classy and fairly simple.
I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. –Audrey Hepburn
If you want to make your look more wearable, leave the hat out or use a black or a navy blue beret. Beret would actually really take your look into daywear while remaining extremely stylish. You can also wear boots or something a bit more casual on your feet in oder to achieve different and perhaps more modern look. Personally, I would recommend black, classic kneehigh boots or ankle boots with a simple heel.
Finally, for all the makeup lovers out there, this is the makeup a came up with for this Audrey Hepburn inspired look. It is not quite like Audrey's makeup but I didn't try to look like Audrey, just be inspired by her style and that's actually the main point of this series: to fit hollywood legent's style into your own style. Anyway, I kept everything soft, relatively natural and not too overpowering that's why I did a smaller but long wing and used neutral tones. Of course you can do more "Audrey like" makeup which is still really simple but I'm just showing that you can also keep it in your comfort zone.
Thank you so much for reading!
